GREENSPRING QUARRY

DMW Services performed:

Project Summary

Quarry Lake focused on mine reclamation, redevelopment and reuse of the long-standing Quarry site, one of the largest redevelopment projects in Baltimore County. This two hundred seventy-one (271) acre property has been reclaimed as a high-quality, mixed-use community including 225,000 SF of office space, 112,000 SF of retail shops, numerous restaurants and a mix of six hundred (600) single-family and condominium style homes. The focal point of the community is the former limestone quarry that is now a dramatic limestone rock edged lake of over 40-acres and one of the deepest lakes in Maryland. The Quarry Lake community was designed to offer three distinct environmental theme settings unique, yet unified, live, work and recreational experiences. Environmental enhancements for the project include over one mile of created and restored stream channels, over two acres of wetland creation and enhancement, 11 acres of newly planted forests and streamside buffers, and a stormwater runoff retrofit for over 900 acres of watershed with a cold-water lake discharge that delivers clean, cold water into Moore’s Branch and Jones Falls.
